A Blinding Light

Is this how we leave
In a dazzle of light
Blinding and bewitching?
Flying solo perhaps
Or holding hands
Like a group of dancing
Skydivers ascending
Useless chutes still packed
On warm, living backs?
Will our dreams
Lift us up
Into bright airy openness
Or our fears
Pull us down
Into a crowded world
We have been creating
And destroying
And running rampant over?
Where do we go,
Where can we go
From here?
