Speak Out

Speak out, M. Mair, original art

Speak Out, Margaret Mair, original art

Speak quietly and
Let your words
Settle gently into
This stranger’s ear
So that we may
Understand each other;
But speak out –
We cannot know
Your unspoken thoughts,
Cannot hear
Your untold tales;
Your unshared dreams
Cannot inspire us.
So speak out,
Reach out
With hope
Compassion
Courage
And love.
Yes, speak out
Through your fears
Your grief and tears
Your shame and anger
Through your pain;
Only speak out
So we may hear
And know you.
Please speak out
While you can,
While we can hear,
Before the ranting starts.
