Of Mothers (and their dreams)

For all those who love and mother children and work to create a better world, though sometimes you work against all the odds, sometimes in circumstances many cannot even imagine – including in the midst of persecution, war and starvation. Thank you for your courage; may you win your battle.

There comes a time
When children learn
Their mothers dream
An aching dream,
A beautiful dream
Of a kind world
Where their children
Can grow and learn

Where people act
With forethought
And compassion.

The strength they find
To continue
The loving task.
Thank you
To the mothers,
Loved, loving,
Known, unknown,
Dedicated…

    “Where people act
    With forethought
