If you could, looking,
See so closely
You would know
We are not solid
For airy space
Lies within
Each minuscule part
And contains the whole
Of what we are
And what surrounds us
Here on our blue planet,
Space empty as the vacuum
That is the heavens,
Empty as the unseen spaces
Between the atoms
That together create
Every star and planet
And tumbling asteroid
That dwells therein,
An integral part of
The infinitesimally small
And the infinitely large.
See –
There is space within us
And space between us
And space around us;
And
Through this space
We dance our lives,
In this space we are.
