Contemplating

painting, Geometry of Contemplation

Geometry of Contemplation, Margaret Mair, original art

There is calm
In contemplation,
In the feel of breath
Moving gently
Through the dark passages
Of the nose
Across the moist parting
Of the lips.
In the quiet
Steady heartbeats
Drum the rhythm
Of the body’s song;
Errant thoughts
Wandering through
Invite rambling pursuit
Down never-ending paths
Then slip away;
Light glows red
Through translucent lids
Closed to conceal
The soul within
From the harsh light
And deep shadows
Without.
