Fly, Fly Away…

Fly, Fly Away, Margaret Mair, original art

On this beautiful day
I am a solitary island
Floating gentle
In the sunlight,
A golden spirit
Contained by
Hilly curves rising
From quiet water
Above blue depths.
Entranced by
The fiery sun
I close my
Half-blinded eyes
And let my dreams soar
Through the red darkness
Behind my eyelids,
Flying like birds
Above and away,
Soft wings kissing
The tender breeze
That whispers seductively
Over my skin
And cools my
Exposed thoughts.
