Left Behind

It is all change
From birth to death
And all the years
In between.
The world it turns
Around us:
The changing clouds
Flee
Across the face
Of the sky;
The wandering wind
Shrieks
And murmurs
Then grows quiet;
The surrounding waters
Rise
And fall
And fade away;
The restless earth
Revolves
Underneath us,
Shivers,
Quakes, explodes,
Turns still;
Our transient selves
Walk,
And run,
And drive and fly
Away, always away.
We change
With the years
With our world
With all around us;
In disease
And ease,
In distress
And pleasure,
In the taking
And the having
And the losing
And the winning
All is change,
And change we must
Or be left
Alone
Behind.

  1. I agree.
    “All is change,
    And change we must
    Or be left
    Alone
    Behind”
    Powerful poetry and thoughts.
