Three Running Hard, Margaret Mair, original art

Three Running Hard, Margaret Mair, original art

We are horses
Made for sunshine,
Galloping golden
Hoofs flying
Across still, green pasture,
Carrying the wind
In the bright swirl
Of our sun-bleached manes.
We come to you
Bodies stretched,
Heads reaching
Forward together,
All muscle and bone
And heaving lungs
Though we seem to fly
So effortlessly
Above the ground.
Remember us
As you see us
In this moment
Of beauty;
For life is
Fleet of foot
As we are.

  1. Beautiful – and thoughtful. Thank you Margaret

  2. Stunning, Margaret. Picture and poem both. My daughter, who loves horses and used to try drawing them, would love this too!
    Remarkably beautiful, Margaret!

    • Thank you so much, Cynthia. I too love horses, and have a daughter who does as well. It takes much practice to draw/paint them with any success, I find. And so I observe and practice…

  3. Such a beautiful work of art, Margaret. Lovely poem and painting!
