Soaring

Soaring, Margaret Mair, original art

The trees bow
Their limbs to the
Heaviness of snow
While above them
A bird soars,
Wings unencumbered,
Riding a rising wind
Toward vague blue heights
Wreathed in wisps
Of cloudy dreams;
Escaping higher
And higher
As the wind sets
The trees swaying
To its sighing tune
And the cold lake
Shirrs restless
Against a rocky shore.
So we imagine
Our hopes rising high
On golden wings,
Freed from
The heaviness of earth,
High above
The reaching wave,
Moving closer to
The warm kiss
Of the sun.

  1. Oh, I need a warm kiss of the sun, so I’ll have to get my imagination going.
