A Star to Wish On…

A Star to Follow, Margaret Mair, original art

A Star to Follow, Margaret Mair, original art

In this wintry season
Days are short
And nights are long
And stars linger
Across the sky’s
Dark sweep,
Fragile as dreams,
Far away as wishes,
Fitful as memories,
Fantastic as gifts
Long hoped for
But never expected.
Our lifted eyes
Are captured
By their twinkling beauty
Reaching out to us
Across eons of time
And an infinity
Of space.
So many eyes,
So many wishes,
So many dreams
Held up toward them,
So much hope
In prayers raised
To the heavens
They call home,
Each and all
Bringing us together
Even if only
Up there
So very far away
From these places
We call home.

  1. Your poems are always beautiful, Margaret, as is your art. I am going to un-follow and re-follow you to see if that helps me receive your posts more regularly. It doesn’t come up in my Reader, for some reason.

Wishing you a merry Christmas and a healthy, happy new year.

    • It gladdens my heart to share my words and art and know they are appreciated. Thank you! I hope un-following/re-following helps.

And wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas as well, much happiness and improving health in the New Year.

  2. Reblogged this on MairImages.ca Blog and commented:

Rewritten now, with a sense of wistfulness and a feeling of wishfulness.
