These Blue Mountains

These mountains
Fell jagged
From the sky
And landed
In a splatter
Of crags and crevices
Making places
Where creatures
Such as we
May find refuge
And live.
These mountains
Let the water
Tumble raggedly
Down their slopes
And pool
In their hollows;
Let the clouds
Gather above
And loose their
Bounty of rain
on the plain
Below;
Offer patches
Of fertile ground
Where grasses grow
And hardy trees
Sink roots
And rugged folk
Create harvests
For living on;
These mountains
Lift our eyes,
Our selves,
Our spirits,
Until we yearn
To dwell in
The cloak of
Soft cloudy mists
We see gather
Gently round them.
These mountains
Are blue mountains
Distantly dreaming
Of the sky.

    So beautiful, Margaret. So very beautiful. As is the painting.
