Rising Waters

Water on Rocks, Margaret Mair, Original art

Water on Rocks, Margaret Mair, Original art

The heavens open
And it’s a drowned world,
Raindrops pelting
Bowed trees,
Water flowing down
Drenched slopes
To the rivers,
To the lakes,
To the seas.
Released from
Icy solidity
Sea waters rise
To meet
The falling rain,
Coming together
With the waters
In these seas,
In these lakes,
In these rivers.
Here
The rain falls hard
Like a storm
Of sorrowful tears;
There
The water, weeping,
Slips away to hide
Deep under
Dust-dry earth
And the salty sea
Creeps its way
Into new places.
Water rises,
World changes,
And we are changed
Will we or not.
