What If Sleeping Giants Woke?

Sleeping Giants, 2, Margaret Mair, original art

What if the mountains
Were the faces
Of long ago giants
Turned now, sleeping,
Toward the blue ceiling
Of the sky;
What if the earth
Were their blanket
And the sea waves
Long ago
Rocked them
Gently to sleep;
What if
They did not wake
To see their faces
Changed with the passing
Of time
When little men came
And carved into
And burrowed through
And terraced and furrowed
Their features,
And grew strange plants
Upon them
In strange ways.
What if they cried
In their sleep,
Rivers and waterfalls
That filled the sea
Beside them,
Sometimes moved abruptly
Tossing and turning
As if to shake
The little creatures off.
What if
They awakened?

I just love this, the art and the writing!

  2. Who is it that designs your lovely images?

  3. I Wonder if you would like to be included on our recommendations page? We are compiling a list of artists & Designers who New writers can collaborate with when they are finalising their works. Your art is fantastic. It may not be something you are interested in, and as we are very new we cannot guarantee anyone will bite… but We would like to include you on our page… think on it!

Thank you for the compliment! Your idea sounds intriguing, interesting. I’m curious, though – what kind of collaboration are you thinking of? Can you tell me more? (I’m off to visit your blog via my computer now).

      • Well we are setting up a page with links directly to designers / authors / small publishers etc… So that new writers can find artists to work with.. I saw your art work and knew many others would be interested too… Honestly we don’t know if it will take off but were confident! So really for now it’s just a name, link an example of work… And then hopefully as interest grows people will contact you to design covers for their works etc.

As I said, sounds interesting. I’d like to have my name and link on your page. Let’s see where this goes – and thanks for asking.
