The Haiku:
This gentle island
We make into our image
And take for our selves.

The Thoughts:
There is some thing in us that loves nature wild and free.  And yet when we find a wild and beautiful place our first thought may be to enjoy the beauty; our second is too often to tame it and shape it and establish control over it.  And so we find beauty and then lose it, find wildness and then tame it.   We seem driven to take what nature created and try to recreate it in our image of what we would like nature to be.
