Sunshine Paintings, 3 – Red Sun

The Haiku:
Red sun retreating
Holds night in fiery embrace
Before darkness falls.

The Thoughts:
Traveling along a back road I watched the sun go down in a glorious red blaze, and thought:  if I paint this, no-one will ever believe it could be real.  But I painted it anyway.

(Some time after I first painted it I was playing with interference paints, and decided to incorporate them into this painting.  They helped bring out that last fiery gleam of light over the landscape.)

  1. The sky sometimes takes on amazing colours and textures and shapes. Glad you did this!

    • Doesn’t it? There are so many times I look up to find the most extraordinary colours. Glad you like it!

  2. Lovely poem, Margaret. Such beautiful words to complement your stunning painting! Best wishes, Iris.
