Summer Notes, 2 – The Lushness of Renoir

Pierre Auguste Renoir, Der erste Ausgang/The First Outing

Pierre Auguste Renoir, Der erste Ausgang/The First Outing

It is  the richness of Renoir’s work that first caught my eye.  His paintings feel lush, rich in colour and light and movement.  How could I not be drawn to look more closely?

Then I found something else that interested me: the way he developed and changed his ideas and techniques over the course of his career, leaving us a rich and varied world to explore and discover.

And there is a third thing that draws me: he creates beautiful, translucent, flesh tones. They add so much life and beauty when he paints people, in portraits or caught in more intimate moments.

I hope you’ll enjoy this selection of his work, courtesy of ilromanziere.
