Conversing With Art

I’ve been thinking that art is a conversation. That the conversation starts as soon as someone who is not the artist looks at the image. Then no matter what the artist thought, felt, hoped, tried to say – the viewer brings their own internal dialogue to the piece. After that the conversation may be silent, or it may be shared – but it is an exchange between the experience and creation of the artist, and the experience and ideas of the viewer.

Which is probably the most valuable thing about art.
